Rider Explanations
ACCIDENTAL DEATH RIDER
The Accidental Death Rider1 provides an additional amount paid to the beneficiary if the policy insured dies due to an accident. The amount payable is equal to and in addition to the specified amount shown on the Policy Specifications page, but not to exceed $500,000. The Insured’s death must have been from bodily injury caused by an accident; and
- Death occurred while this rider was in force; and
- We have due proof that accidental bodily injury was the sole cause of death; and
- Death occurred within specified number of days of the accident, as indicated in the contract.
ACCELERATED DEATH BENEFIT RIDER
The Accelerated Death Benefit Rider2 provides access to a portion of the policy death benefit in the event the Insured is diagnosed with a terminal illness that results in a life expectancy of 12 months or less. On the date the accelerated benefit payment is made, the sum insured for all remaining policy years will be reduced by the amount of the accelerated benefit.
DISABILITY INCOME RIDER
The Disability Income Rider2 provides protection in the event the insured becomes disabled. This protection is in addition to the death benefit of the life insurance policy and is not an acceleration of the death benefit, meaning the death benefit is not impacted should the insured become disabled and access this rider’s benefit.
Disability income benefits are offered at various benefit periods and at different amounts subject to an elimination period.
FRATERNAL LEGACY RIDER
The Fraternal Legacy Rider2 grants the owner the opportunity to direct Catholic Order of Foresters to pay a benefit amount equal to 5.0% of the net death benefit payable, to the recognized Catholic charity of the owner’s choice. This is in addition to the policy named beneficiary(ies) receiving their designated death benefit.
There is no additional policy premium for this rider. Eligible policy death benefit face amount starts at $50,000. Charitable contribution not to exceed $250,000.
The Charitable Beneficiary shall be any organization whose principles are consistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and is considered exempt from federal taxation under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and listed in Section 170(c) of the Internal Revenue Code as an authorized recipient of charitable contributions.
GUARANTEED PURCHASE OPTION RIDER
The Guaranteed Purchase Option Rider2 allows a policy owner to purchase additional life insurance coverage in the future, on specified and alternate option dates, without providing evidence of insurability.
SINGLE PREMIUM ADDITIONAL PAID-UP LIFE INSURANCE RIDER
The Single Premium Additional Paid-up Life Insurance Rider2 provides that the single premium paid for this rider will be used to purchase additional paid-up life insurance on the life of the Insured. This rider has a cash value in addition to the cash value of the base policy and is included in the policy’s total cash and loan values.
ADDITIONAL PAID-UP LIFE INSURANCE RIDER
The Additional Paid-Up Life Insurance Rider2 provides, prior to the Insured’s attainment of age 90, the premiums paid for this rider will be used to purchase additional paid-up life insurance on the life of the Insured.This rider has a cash value in addition to the cash value of the base policy and is included in the policy’s total cash and loan values.
WAIVER OF MONTHLY DEDUCTION RIDER
The Waiver of Monthly Deduction Rider2 provides if the Insured becomes totally disabled, for at least three (3) consecutive months, except in the case of disabilities resulting from the loss of sight or limbs, the monthly deduction will not be deducted while total disability continues.
WAIVER OF REQUIRED MINIMUM PREMIUM RIDER
The Waiver of Required Minimum Premium Rider2 provides if the Insured becomes totally disabled, while the rider is in force, for at least three consecutive months, except in the case of disabilities resulting from the loss of sight or limbs, the required minimum premium payment will be waived for the amount of premium-paying life insurance in force. While the premiums are being waived under the rider, all benefits included under the policy will continue in force.
WAIVER OF SPECIFIED PREMIUM RIDER
The Waiver of Specified Premium Rider2 provides if the Insured becomes totally disabled while the rider is in force, for at least three consecutive months, except in the case of disabilities resulting from the loss of sight or limbs, the specified minimum premium payment will be waived for the amount of premium-paying life insurance in force. While the premiums are being waived under the rider, all benefits included under the policy will continue in force.
DISABILITY WAIVER OF PREMIUM RIDER
The Disability Waiver of Premium Rider2 provides if the Insured becomes totally disabled while the rider is in force, for at least three consecutive months, except in the case of disabilities resulting from the loss of sight or limbs, the payment of premiums will be waived while there is a premium due for the policy.
CHRONIC ILLNESS RIDER
The Chronic Illness Rider provides access to the base policy’s death benefit in the event the insured is diagnosed as chronically ill. The owner may request once annually a portion of the death benefit be accelerated to the owner. The policy’s death benefit will be reduced by the amount accelerated.
- Chronic illness is defined as either a severe cognitive impairment or inability to perform two of the following activities of daily living: bathing, continence, dressing, eating, toileting, or transferring.
- Available to those ages 50 to 79.
- Available exclusively on Secure4Life Single Premium Universal Life insurance.
- Subject to a 90-day elimination period.
