Faces of Fraternalism: Gin Wilgenbusch, St. Francis 996, Rickardsville, Iowa

Gin Wilgenbusch has been a Catholic Order of Foresters (COF) member for 51 years. As the wife of former Vice High Chief Ranger Eldon Wilgenbusch, she has stayed close to the organization, often involving herself in highway cleanups, past Join Hands Day events, and environmental clean-ups at her parish.

In 2017, she helped organize a Matching Funds event for Mary’s Inn Maternity Home, a home for single mothers in crisis pregnancies. In 2018, she paired St. Francis 774 with two other northeast Iowa courts, Holy Cross 881 and Sts. Peter and Paul 1709, to run a diaper drive for mothers in Haiti. Over 7,000 diapers were shipped out.

Gin and Eldon’s daughter, Beth McFarlane, Sacred Heart 1369, is a current High Court Trustee.

“It’s [COF] a wonderful organization. Plus, you get the benefit of insurance, too. It’s great all-around.”
