Mauer Wins Award, Donates Proceeds to Aid Flood Victims
Kelly Mauer of Plainview, Nebraska, won a Richard Tobin Award from Catholic Order of Foresters based on his production with Catholic Order of Foresters during the 2018 calendar year. Mauer chose to donate the proceeds to St. Paul’s Relief Fund in Plainview. “Recent flooding has affected many statewide,” Mauer said when asked why he chose this cause. “Volunteering time is important, but funds are also needed to replace the basic necessities of daily living.” The donation will be used purchase either daily living supplies or building materials to help families or businesses recover.
Catholic Order of Foresters’ top 20 agents earned Richard Tobin Benevolence Awards, worth $500 each, in 2018. Catholic Order of Foresters (COF) donates the money to the church, school or community organization of each agent’s choice. These awards are made possible through COF’s Welfare and Relief Fund. The late High Chief Ranger Richard Tobin established this fund to allocate money for fraternal good.
