Woods Earns Richard Tobin Award

Iowa Agent Donates to Local Fire & Rescue

Catholic Order of Foresters’ General Agent Janet Woods earned a Richard Tobin Award and chose to donate the money associated with the award to Gilbertville Fire & Rescue.

Woods, of Gilbertville, explains why she chose to donate to this organization: “The small town of Gilbertville is located where Interstate 380 and State Highway 20 merge. Our Fire & Rescue department handle a lot of severe vehicle accidents in addition to their fire calls. Their current building is not large enough to store the firetrucks and other specialty equipment they need for these calls.” The donation will go towards a new Emergency Response Center in which Gilbertville Fire & Rescue will be able to house all of their equipment. The police department will be housed in this facility, too. “I was honored to receive this award and excited to put it towards the Gilbertville Fire & Rescue fundraising campaign,” Woods added.

Catholic Order of Foresters’ top 20 agents earned Richard Tobin Benevolence Awards, worth $500 each, based on production year 2019. COF donates the money to the church, school or community organization of each agent’s choice. These awards are made possible through COF’s Welfare and Relief Fund. The late High Chief Ranger Richard Tobin established this fund to allocate money for fraternal good.
