COF Personnel Update

Changes to enhance COF's field force and serve the membership take place May 1.

Dennis Popplewell

Catholic Order of Foresters is pleased to announce the appointment of Dennis Popplewell, LUTCF as Senior Vice President – Field Distribution effective May 1, 2018. Dennis will oversee all field activities and report directly to Mark Walsworth, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. He will focus on agent recruiting and training.

Dennis joins COF with 38 years of field experience as an agent, regional director, agency manager and vice president. He is also experienced with membership based organizations.

Most recently, he served as Regional Director of an eight-state marketing territory with a field force of over 300 agents. In his 15 years as Regional Director of a large multiple-line company, his region showed exponential growth in field force and new production – especially in the areas of life insurance and annuity sales.

“He has found success in each of his stops on the way to COF and is a proven leader,” Mark Walsworth said. “I am delighted to have Dennis Popplewell on our team.”

Dennis and his wife, Elizabeth, live in Cedar Falls, Iowa and have four grown children and four grandchildren. They love to travel, golf, enjoy good food and wine, and spend time with their children and grandchildren.

“This is a new opportunity to join an organization that I believe in…one that is committed to growth, in the agency force, production and members,” Dennis said. “I love the entrepreneurial spirit of COF…and I look forward to working with the fabulous people at COF and in the field.”

“We have a unique opportunity to make a significant difference in the communities we serve by helping families build financial security through our products and services,” Dennis explains. “But beyond that, COF provides the chance to make a difference by working with our Catholic communities through outreach which provides opportunities for spiritual, social, and charitable growth.”

Tom Adamson web

As part of restructuring the Sales and Marketing Department, Vice President of Sales Tom Adamson’s unique skill set will be used in an expanded agent/member support position. Tom will use his experience in the field and working with the agents to be an agent for improvement and, at times, change in taking advantage of service and support opportunities COF has with agents and members.

COF will continue to benefit from Tom’s ability to create and maintain valued relationships with our agents and to further rapport Home Office employees and management staff have with the field. He will work closely with Dennis Popplewell (Senior Vice President – Field Distribution) and the rest of the Marketing Department in implementing advances in recruiting, training and development of agents.

His experience in the field, field management and Field Office Operations will be employed in reviewing Home Office operational procedures as they relate to servicing agents and members. He will, as time goes on and with input from employees, Home Office management and agents, make recommendations for procedural and communication adjustments.

Over the previous nine years, Tom has been a tremendous asset to the Sales Department. Our expectation is that he will remain a valued team member as COF advances to a new level of Field Recruiting and Development.

Tom’s new title, effective May 1, 2018, is Vice President of Agency Services. His designations include FIC, CLU, ChFC, and CFFM.
