National Convention Update
Every four years, Catholic Order of Foresters (COF) holds a national convention. This event, which most recently took place on August 15, 2020, is attended by elected delegates who are empowered with full legislative, judicial, and governing powers. They are responsible for electing the High Court Officers and Trustees (Board of Directors) to serve four-year terms, and reviewing and revising the Constitution and Bylaws, policies, benefits, and other related items.
Updated 2020 National Convention information for both delegates and members will be posted to the convention website which lives inside the member portal.
A member of the Home Office Team will reach out to each delegate directly by email and phone to assist with portal access.
Examines the election and eligibility of convention delegates and report this information to the National Convention. Committee members are appointed by the High Chief Ranger from among the serving High Court Trustees.
Receives all financial matters referred to it by the National Convention, any accredited delegate, or any High Court member. The committee also examines High Court Officers' compensation, High Court Trustees’ fees, and per diem while engaging in the Order’s business and reports its recommendations to the National Convention.
Will extend greetings to appropriate church and civil authorities, notifying them of National Convention dates. The committee will also act as Honor Guard for distinguished guests in attendance.
Met by teleconference to interview candidates and review their nomination petitions and résumés. Approved candidate names for each High Court Office or Trustee position will be listed on an election ballot. Placement is determined by random drawing. Voting convention delegates will receive approved candidate qualifications to review at least 15 days before the National Convention. All approved candidates will be nominated by the committee and the Order’s general counsel, who serves as an Ex-Officio member, will state this from the online platform. No other nominations are permitted from the convention floor. Following the chairperson’s report, the committee will conduct and certify the High Court election.
Examines all resolutions and petitions referred to it by State Jurisdiction Conventions or submitted to it by the National Convention. The committee chairperson will then report the recommendations regarding all resolutions and petitions that the committee considers appropriate.
Will examine High Court officers’ reports and recommend any changes in policy or fraternal matters the committee considers advisable to the National Convention. In addition, the chairperson will report on the state and progress of the Order and suggest measures it considers appropriate for the welfare of the Order and its members.
Examines all communications and petitions relating to youth activities. The committee chairperson will report to the National Convention, suggesting measures the committee considers appropriate for the youth membership.
