Welcome to the Fraternal Outreach Coordinators' Blog!
Welcome to the official blog of the Fraternal Outreach Coordinators. Our job is to coordinate fraternal outreach, but what does that mean, you ask? We are here to provide support, beneficial information and fresh ideas – in person or over the phone – regarding outreach and Feeding God’s Children (FGC).
For our first post, we want to highlight our experiences with alternative breaks because they’ve had a significant impact on us! We both found that when you go on a trip and serve others, you come back changed.
Brittany: I have attended and co-led two alternative breaks with COF - one to New Orleans, Louisiana, and one to Albany, Georgia, (with Audrey!) and enjoyed every minute of them! Alternative breaks are a perfect way to make new friends from different places, grow in your faith and give back. I think that it is essential to help people less fortunate than us and use our talents. As Erma Bombeck said, “When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, 'I used everything you gave me'.”
Audrey: I participated in five meaningful mission trips while in college through which I learned the importance of stepping outside my comfort zone and giving back to individuals in need. God truly wants us to love our neighbors. I believe the best way to live out our faith is not by our words but by our actions.
If you want to experience something like we experienced on these alternative breaks, join us on our upcoming trips! We have two great opportunities in 2019!
